After weeks of speculation of how Sheebah Karungi and Cindy Sanyu are going to be having their shows on the same day and at the same venue, the main reason behind it all has been revealed.
Come next month, Sheebah and Cindy will battle on the same stage for supremacy. This information was availed by the Victoria University vice chancellor Dr Lawrence Muganga.
According to Dr Muganga, he has been closely filling the verbal war between the two artistes and had to get involved because one of the artistes is their ambassador.
“We have been closely monitoring the media reports surrounding ambassador queen Sheebah Karungi and The King herself Cindy Sanyu, two prominent figures in the music industry. We acknowledge that their recent exchange reflects their passion for their craft and is a testament to their immense talent,” he said.
He added that when the community is in need, the university has a responsibility to be actively involved and serve that need.
With this need, they contacted each artiste individually with a proposal of a battle and they agreed.
“Each of the artists was contacted individually, after we saw the news in the media. Each of them, on their own terms, have accepted the challenge. “The Musical battle will be held on September 15, 2023 at Kololo airstrip, the same venue under contention. This will then be considered the Yolo festival,” he further said at a press conference held at the University main campus.
Before the battle, the university will be having its graduation a day with an inspirational and business MasterClass coming in from Vusi Thembejywayo, a venture capitalist, elite coach and mentor, keynote speaker and best-selling author of international acclaim.
