Eleanor Nabwiso empowering women through film

Eleanor Nabwiso

The world is beyond male domination now. You will find women doing jobs that were mostly reserved for men. When it comes to film, the narrative has been changing steadily.

Almost every year, there is at least one local film that takes the industry by storm, produced or directed by a woman.

It is the one thing that actress-cum-producer has dedicated her craft to. Ever since she opened up Nabwiso films, Eleanor Nabwiso has been pushing to have more women uplifted.

“I made the first “all female made crew movie” in Uganda called “Bed of Thorns”. I had only women behind the scenes, on camera, sound, etc all technical roles were by women and this is because I felt like it was time to let Uganda know that women can do this too,” she said.

She added that for every project they have done, there must be a percentage of women behind the scenes, be it on the camera, sound or any other technical role.
