Mugabi’s vocals impress golfers

Kenneth Mugabi

The Afro-soul genre does not form the fabric of Uganda’s music. In truth, Ugandans love dancehall. But Kenneth Mugabi could do more; after all, his Afro-soul beats are already loved. On Saturday, he kept the audience glued through the evening during the 19th hole prize giving ceremony of the NCBA Bank Golf Series’ leg at Uganda Golf Club (UGC).

Backed by a band, Mugabi wowed guests with his guitar and songs such as Nteesa and Kibunoomu during the musical interludes on the night controlled by emcee Ronnie Mitch Egwang.
Amos Nzeyi, the chief guest at the event, brought humour: “I apologise to my friends that I used to play with here, I know you miss my money.”
During the action at Kitante, about 100 trees were planted around the course as part of a cause to fight climate change by NCBA.

“It is important that we realise that the environment we are working in is sustainable,” said NCBA managing director Mark Muyobo.
The NCBA Series has 24 different tournaments across East Africa and the final leg where the winner gets Ksh100,000 (Shs2.57m).
