It was an all-white affair at the prestigious 71-Par Entebbe Club last Saturday as golfers participated in the Singleton Match Play challenge Season Seven.
It was a good sight, seeing CEOs, bankers and government officials among others all clad in different forms of white for the event; shorts, linen and T-shirts were the most preferred.
The day saw an impressive turnout, with 201 players engaging in intense head-to-head competition on the green, each striving to secure their place in the next stage of the Challenge.
After an exhilarating battle on the course, golfers made their way to the radiant 19th hole experience, where they were treated to a memorable evening, commencing with themed cocktails that perfectly complemented the enchanting all-white themed soirée.
The experience continued with an exquisite spread of delicious food and captivating music, setting the stage for the draws that would shape the excitement for the next five months.
The night came alive with DJ Nyoowe mixing jams that took golfers and guests on an enchanting musical journey, encompassing nostalgic hits from the 90s to Uganda’s current chart-toppers. Familiar tunes such as Ricky Martin’s Livin la’vida loca and Element’s Fou De Toi filled the air, but it was Fire Anthem from the East African Bashment Crew that had everyone dancing and grooving with enthusiasm.
Some of the winners during the event was Andrea Kagombe who won a trophy for nearest to the pin and also bagged a trophy as runner-up in the women’s group B scoring 67 net. Other winners included Lawrence Walakira, Elias Katwebaze, Prof. Robert Ejiku, among others.
Sixty-four pairs emerged victorious and qualified for round one scheduled to take place in two weeks at the iconic Entebbe Club.
Among the noteworthy pairs from Season Seven are the dynamic duo of Andrea and Charles Kagombe as well as the promising pair of Henry Ssali and Darius Mugisha, both expected to fiercely compete for the championship title.
