Gospel artistes stage charity concert for sickly Scovia Ainomugisha

Mbarara gospel artistes have combined efforts to stage a charity concert dubbed ‘Save Scovia’ particularly to raise funds required to save fellow gospel singer Scovia Ainomugisha.

Ainomugisha is currently battling kidney failure and is required to have Shs150m for a kidney transplant in India. The concert is set to happen on June 25, 2023, at King of Kings Church in Mbarara City.

Ms Nora Nankunda, a female gospel singer said: “I thank those who have already shown their support in saving Scovia’s life. I request everyone to join the cause until we raise the required money.”

Singer Disan Kato said Scovia’s Kidney issue touched their hearts as gospel musicians calling and requesting everyone in his or her capacity to offer help in any form.

“Surely Scovia needs our help, she has been with us in the music journey for long, her songs have morally shaped our society, now she is suffering from kidney failure and she cannot afford the money required. So we call everyone to attend and offer whatever they have to save her,” he said

Renowned singer Geofrey Beingana asked musicians, pastors and people from all walks of life to feel pain for Scovia and attend the concert.

“Let us put ourselves in Scovia’s shoes and feel pain for her, it is time to feel sympathy for our fellow singer. I request you fellow musicians both secular and gospel, DJs, pastors, journalists and all kinds of people, organisations and religions to join the cause and we render help to save her,” he said.

Scovia learnt about her kidney illness in 2019 after being diagnosed by Dr Rose Muhindo of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) who advised and referred her to India for a specialised kidney transplant.
