The Rotary Club of Kampala Early Bird made merry on Saturday as they celebrated the installation of their new president as well as induction of three new members at Aquarius Hotel, Kigo. The outgoing president, Maurice Taremwa handed over the tools of power to Dr Florence Nakayiwa Mayega.
Dr Mayega, who is the deputy executive secretary at RUFORUM, was a charter member deeply committed to Rotary’s values. As director of The Rotary Foundation during the Opportunity Year and Director of Service Projects during the Change Maker Year, her dedication was unquestionable. In a space filled with anticipation, the outgoing president bid farewell to the group, expressing gratitude for the support received during his tenure. Dr Mayega on the other hand, radiated confidence and purpose as she took her oath, inspiring everyone present.
In her inaugural speech, she thanked her fellow Rotarians and shared her vision for the year ahead. Focusing on community engagement and sustainable projects, she aimed to transform lives. Her journey within the club symbolised her unwavering commitment.
The celebration continued as the club commemorated its three-year charter anniversary, reflecting on impactful community projects. The induction of three new members exemplified growth and expansion.
Dr Mayega was in the company of her husband, Ambassador Henry Mayega and their family. She promised to lead the club with dedication and together, they would inspire others to join Rotary and create a lasting change.
As Taremwa passed on the tools of power, the Rotary Club of Kampala Early Bird embarked on a new chapter united and determined, promising to make a difference, project by project. He said under Dr Mayega’s leadership, their collective impact would soar, leaving an indelible mark on communities and beyond.
