Pallaso asks govt for music ministry

Pallaso

Singer Pius Mayanja alias Pallaso has asked President Museveni to create a Music Ministry in his cabinet.

Pallaso reasons that Uganda’s Music Industry is so big now and qualifies to have its own ministry.

“The Uganda Music industry qualifies to have its own Ministry. It is a very big revenue stream for the people and the government once it’s well structured. Music is medicine. That’s why it’s industrialized, emphasized, politicized, analyzed, sympathized, compromised, recognized and everybody is surprised,” he tweeted on Saturday.

Pallaso’s suggestion comes at a time when musicians have already created their umbrella association Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) to bring them together with the aim of music development, collective bargaining and welfare.

The association also aims at enforcing copyright law which musicians believe can always provide them money even when they are no longer performing on stage.

Ugandans react to Pallaso’s suggestion

“What are the qualifications for an industry to have a ministry for starters? Y’all are having too much entitlement yet the demand for your services is too inelastic man.
Just apply for the copyright without having to overrate your damn selves,” Mr Virgo.

“Imagine they appoint Alien Skin as the minister Incharge,” A L E M I.

“Ministry? If even URA is under a ministry. What are you talking about kid,” WINNERS HUB.
