Events promoter Balaam Barugahara has come out to clear the air on allegations that he connived with Abby Musinguzi alias Abitex to stage ‘Love Fest’ and ‘Sitya Danger’ concert on the same day.
Last weekend, renowned musician Edirisa Musuuza commonly known by his stage name Eddy Kenzo disclosed to journalists that the Federation he leads (Uganda National Musicians Federation) had received information that Balaam and Abitex were behind organising musician Patrick Mulwana alias Alien Skin’s concert that took place at Freedom City on the same day with Pius Mayanja alias Pallaso’s that was held at Cricket Oval.
In an interview with Spark TV’s gossip show known as Daily Soup, the Vice President of the National Promoters Association denied engaging in any plans to organise the forementioned show.
“The truth is, I have never talked to Abitex to stage a show on the same day because it has cost implications. I have never had any negotiations with him about anything to do with a concert. He once called me on phone saying that he had a deal but i did not meet him because i was busy,” he said.
Balaam further affirmed that he didn’t met with Abitex.
“ I have never met him, he is just a greedy man who used our situation as an opportunity to make money, let me hope he will able to buy a building along Kampala road with the money he made from the show,” he added.
The events promoter further explained he is being fought by some of his colleagues in the business. He was also not shy to say that they are are doing it because they are jealous of him.
Balaam also hinted on the move to impeach Abitex as the President of the National Promoters Association. He revealed a meeting to discuss the impeachment of the association president has already been held, adding that Abitex might be replaced by another promoter for the position of President of the association.
