For every music artiste, there is always that slow and intentional decline that disregard for perfection. Or we could call it, a way to pass through the moments, the routines. Kimugunyu is that video, and Ykee Benda is the artiste. It is the turned expectations for the viewer.
Kimugunyu is set on the backdrop of the Kampala treets. It is the monotony with the scenes, some shot on a rooftop and others in the corridors of Kampala streets. The choreography is not outstanding or bespoke, it’s a quick fit into the scenes. And the movement of the streets, an illustration of a director’s lack of imagination.
The video thus kills the viewer with monotony and confusion. It is also a wonder; ‘What is Kimugunyu?’ What is the visual interpretation? The expression in the video does not help the case. At the end of the day, it is a once great artiste choosing to tick off the box of a video.
