WINNERS: It was an evening to crown the best of African film and TV but before all that, the stars were winning big on the red carpet.
Last Saturday, the Eko Hotel in Nigeria was a scene out of glamour dreams as the best of Nollywood royalty as well as stars from all over the continent arrived for the 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards. The awards that celebrate the best of film and TV in Africa recognise stars from across the continent for their exceptional talent.
Before the main ceremony, the stars rained upon the red carpet with their best glamour interpretation. Everyone from the host, Zozibini Tunzi and Toke Makinwa brought out the big guns with their outfit choices.
Here is a breakdown of who was killing it at the event.
- Bukumni Adeaga
The media personality chose a floral detailed gown with a matching detachable skirt by Yemi Shoyemi for the event. Her delicate accessories and keeping them minimal allowed for this look to stand out. This is a clean and flawless ensemble, and possibly one of my top three best looks from the night.
- Ini Edo
Styled by the queen of style Medlin Boss, this look on veteran actress Ini Edo in her see-through netted black ensemble was unexpected and a definite head-turner. The top area with the spread-out branchy details was the highlight of this look, and the choice to wear her hair sleeked back allowed for this dress to take all the attention.
- Mercy Eke
This look was everything icy, spicy, and stunning. This gown by Xtra Brides Lagos was styled by Swanky Jerry, and while I was not feeling the hand gloves and headdress that much, the colour and detail on this are stunning and red carpet approved!
- Nengi Hampson
The reality TV star went for a black sheer number, that was complimented with her black updo and barely there jewellery which allowed for her dress to take centre stage. Adding the embellished details on the sheer bit of the dress added a touch of glamour to this look and we love it.
- Teniola
Another black number that can totally get behind is this voluminous number worn by Teniola Aladese. This look designed by Bibi Lawrence is a classic, and we love the larger-than-life cape that was a great layering choice for her black dress. This is how you step onto a red carpet if you are to be turning heads because there is no missing that cape.
- Zozibini Tunzi
The co-host of the ceremony had quite an assortment of fashion choices from the night, but this green metallic number by Lanre Da Silva was it. The host who wore a lot of her ensembles in green and white details, possibly in homage to Nigeria kept all the other elements in this look on a minimal.
