RED CARPET PERFECT! The stars were decked out, and these are some of the stars whose ensembles left us with so much plot and fashion envy.
The idyllic city of Cape Town was the place to be last weekend when African stars from all over the continent descended upon the town for the premiere of Netflix’s Queen Charlotte: A Bridgeton Story. The show’s premiere was a glamorous affair as guests turned up in their best Georgia-era-fashion interpretation. The guest list which included Nigerian music and film stars as well as South African social scene royalty, marked the premier of the six-part series, which is a prequel spin-off of the popular series, Bridgeton.
The stars were decked out, and these are some of the stars whose ensembles left us with so much plot and fashion envy.
Sharon Oja
The dropped waistline and the colour of this made for the perfect look for this gilded affair. This Sheyeolade gown was worn perfectly accessorised with the lace gloves and that necklace that added a lot of flair to the look. This is straight out of a 60s fashion book.
Mercy Eke
The former big brother star chose this red and gold trimmed gown, styled by Swanky Jerry, and this was one of the best looks of the night. Keeping your accessories on a minimum allowed for your gown to take centre stage and shine.
Priscilla Ajoke Ojo
You know it is game over when an Xtra Brides Lagos gown enters the conversation. And media personality Priscilla could not have pulled this off any better. The details and hue on this are what make this a head-turner. We could see this look working just fine without the gloves, but you do look stunning all the same.
Blue Mbombo
This is what pink dreams are made of, and this exaggerated sleeves gown by Scalo is an absolute dream. The puffy skirt and full-on gloves added drama to this ensemble, and we cannot say we are mad at that. This is definitely the kind of drama we can entertain.
Lilian Afegbai
Now that is one high ponytail that Queen Charlotte would be very proud of. The host of the premier, Lilian, chose a blush-coloured gown with puffy sleeves and a corseted top. It is her large high ponytail though that is the show stopper here.
Zola Nombona
This look is different and unexpected and we love how well it turned out. This all-black ensemble featured a deconstructed waist, and laced top, serving sexy and the mystery was added with your round brim hat.
