At some point in her career, Keko was the best hip hop artiste in Uganda and her talent was recognised not just in East Africa but Africa as a whole, to the point that Sony Music signed her in 2012. Having relocated to Canada, Keko, who has a number of songs, recognised her secret to going international.
“I had to change my sound so that I do not get caught up in the Kindadali craze. I was looking at the international market and I was able to do so,” she said while doing an interview recently. She also added that Uganda’s problem is sound and creativity and believes that English is not the only language necessary for someone to go international.
