‘Kigenya Agenya’ made me – Leilah Kalanzi

Sheila Gashumba’s statements of how some people grew up watching ‘Kigenya Agenya’ and ‘That’s life Mwattu’ which defined their level in life got many talking and one of these of an actress in one of the shows. The provocative statements have helped local content creators and lovers to reflect on and appreciate the efforts and growth of the Ugandan Movie Industry.

Some actresses have attacked the socialite while others like comedian Leila Kalanzi ‘Kachapizo’ have used the situation to reminisce on her artistic journey.

Through her social media, Leila, one of the cast members in ‘Kigenya Agenya’ said the production was her breakthrough.

“One of the greatest Ugandan productions of all time, ”Kigenya Agenya’ I will always be proud of this movie because through It Allah opened doors for me,” she said

Adding, “I wish I can explain every good thing I got out of it but I might need weeks to exhaust it all.  No Vulgar Language! No indecent dressing! No getting high before shooting! ‘Kigenya Agenya’ is a miniseries production by Phillip Luswata and the Bakayimbira drama actors. It was released in the late 90s but became popular in the early 2000s. ‘Kigenya Agenya’ is a story of a rotting nation.
