Ugandan music legend Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has applauded the legacy left behind by the late musician and vocalist Mowzey Radio real name Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo, who he introduced to the music scene through his record label Leone Island.
The most successful days of the dynamic Radio and Weasel duo however were those in the GoodLyf Crew after leaving Leone Island. However, the latter’s boss, Jose Chameleone, recently revealed the strong bond he had with the deceased superstar, regardless of their later tumultuous relationship.
“I first got to know Radio through Chagga,” Chameleone revealed.
“Radio sang for me ‘Jennifer’ and I liked it. I asked him to come back the next morning to record the song. When I woke up, he had cleaned my car, and he also gifted me an art piece of me that he had painted. I liked him so much. I took him to the studio and produced ‘Jennifer’ for him and I even sang some backup vocals on it,” Chameleone narrated.
He further revealed that he was so fond of the singer to the extent that he paid part of his tuition when he was at the university.
“ I am proud to say that I paid tuition for his final semester at Makerere and later we as Leone Island threw him a graduation party before taking him to Ange Noir,” he said.
About Radio’s character, Chameleone said, “He was not erratic like people say, he was just used to speaking the truth and Ugandans hate people who tell them the truth. He was human like the rest of us. He never lied and hated being lied to. He was very intelligent.”
The legendary artiste then made a sweet revelation, “I made a gospel song with him before he died. It is still in the Good Lyf Studios and not yet released.”
Mowzey was a Ugandan musician, vocalist, and songwriter. He was one of the main performers of the Ugandan music group Goodlyfe Crew together with Chameleone’s brother Weasel Manizo.
He died on February 1 2018.
May his soul continue resting in Peace.
