If there is one thing that we may never be able to fully explain, it must be the significance of exclusive clubs or how they work. For some, people apply to become members while for others , you have to be invited and a number of other equally qualified people must recommend you.

The benefits most of the times are beyond being part of the pack. Many in fact are business-related, such as networking associations as well as exclusive experiences around the world.

And that is almost the story of the Blue Club in Uganda, highly associated to Scottish whisky Johnnie Walker, the blue label; it is an exclusive club whose range of luxurious offers includes 24-hour whisky delivery, trips to the home of Johnnie Walker in Scotland, backstage experiences at Formula One events as well as private whisky tasting dinners with up to 50 friends at least once every year for its members.

The Blue Club is a toast of the who is who in the world of luxury and their events are usually get togethers of influence.

Each year, they would have an event held at the home of a member or a person who was becoming a member. The last event, for instance, was held at businessman and Rotarian Emmanuel Katongole in 2019.

Then there was a pandemic the following year and 2021, there was an event toasting to women who move Uganda.

Rachel Ddumba, one of Uganda Breweries Limited’s board members hosted the all-female Blue Club get-together at Kampala Serena Hotel to celebrate the remarkable women.

On Friday, the Blue Club went home again. This was at businessman Amos Nzeyi’s new residence in Kigo.

The guest list ranged from diplomatic corps, to industry captains, top businessmen and women, as well as golfers.

But this was not about them, it was a night where everything whisky was celebrated and explained at the same time.

As it is for many of such gatherings, a new member of the club was introduced, this time, it was Jimmy Mugerwa, a board member at UBL. He thanked Nzeyi for opening his doors for them.
