Buganda on top as Ganda Boys make history

Ganda Boys

Ganda Boys singing duo Denis Mugagga and Dan Sewagudde have fulfilled their promise of re-doing the Buganda anthem alongside six choirs from six continents.

The redone version of the anthem was released a few days ago and it has impressed almost everyone who has gotten a glimpse of it, especially those on social media including the Buganda Kingdom.

The Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga thanked the duo and commended them on a job well done.

“Nneebaza ba Ganda Boys olw’enteekateeka y’okuyimba Ekitiibwa kya Buganda mu ngeri ey’ekikugu n’obuwoomu obwenkaniddaawo. Batukubye enkata ya Ssekukkulu.” Translated as “I thank Ganda Boys for their efforts in singing the Buganda anthem in a more professional and flair of such a degree. They have indeed given us a good Christmas.” Reads the statement.

In the video, the Ganda Boys, clad in traditional Buganda tunics (Kanzu) sing the Kingdom’s official anthem, in joint efforts, with the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, which is considered to be the most important symphony orchestra in Colombia.

Each of the six choirs that were a part of the project represented a different continent.

The video that the Ganda Boys have since uploaded to their YouTube channel, describes the project, as a collaborative piece by the Ganda Boys and the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, with a new choral arrangement by Ganda Boys founding member, Craig Pruess.

“The Ganda Boys have organized choirs from all six continents of the world to come together in a cultural celebration of Uganda’s heritage, by collaborating in a recording of the Buganda National Anthem,” the bio stated.

The YouTube bio further states that the final recording is being mixed by Grammy winner, Latino producer, and engineer, Daniel Cortes.
