The president of the Federation of gospel artistes in Uganda Silver Wesley has assured gospel artistes from Ankole sub-region in western Uganda of support in their stumbling music industry.
The assurance was given during a press conference about Nigerian gospel singer Adah Ehi’s planned concert slated to happen in Mbarara City in November.
Wesley says it’s now time for western Uganda gospel artists, especially those from Ankore to use Adah’s appearance to pick lessons and also exhibit the best gospel artists in the region.
“We bring artistes like Adah to inspire our very own local artists. She got millions of followers and subscribers and that means she is at a particular level of ministration. It does not profit us to bring her and then she only ministers without meeting our very own here,” Wesley added.
He added “The most important thing is not to have Adah perform and go; we want to exhibit the best of the gospel artistes and other ministers we have. We are very passionate at Spirit FM for that. We have quite a list of local performers, including Emily Best, Peterson Ma, Juli Sok, Lady Dianah and Happy Alex among others. We want to push more, and people out there know that there are good artists in Mbarara. My fellow federation members and I are working tooth and nail to revive the glory of gospel music in this land,” he said.
Speaking at the same press address, Pastor Ditas Tashobya said it’s time for Ankore youth to embrace the gospel of the good Lord spreading it through music so that the message can easily reach every nation.
“Adah is our fellow African and she has done wonders in the world. This is a great opportunity for western Uganda since they had never hosted any international sensational artist. I encourage artists in western Uganda to know that they have an opportunity to spread the gospel more than anyone out there. Gospel musicians spread the message quicker and faster than even pastors and preachers. The message heals and touches the hearts of people. For the glory of the lord we have come to spread the message of the lord with our international artist,” he said.
