It was not all rosy for some revellers, journalists and service providers who attended the seventh edition of Nyege Nyege Festival at Itanda falls in Jinja.

Apparently, the massively attended event had a cluster of unscrupulous individuals who chose to pickpocket and others forcefully grab gadgets inside and outside the venue.

On day one, unidentified man was punched and robbed near the Nile river bank as he tried to walk away from noise and make a phone call. The victim traced his iPhone later in the morning and the signal was showing Kampala city centre.

In quiet a similar manner, top photographer who trades as Tweny moments lost an f2.8 Canon lens to thieves inside the venue and same scene, another photographer identified as Gilbert lost a gimbal to thieves who took it by force.

Just a few hours after an artiste was beaten and robbed of her IPhone, on Sunday afternoon, similar events befell Daily Monitor journalist Andrew Kaggwa who was grabbed as he was typing a story.

On the second day of the festival, a French national identified as Quentin Perie Jolu was attacked and robbed. The suspects in Quentin’s case who are still in custody include a 27-year-old student of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Jinja campus.

Much as security was heavily deployed at the venue, the size of the venue was restively big as compared to the number of security personnel and the audience with more personnel visible near police mobile truck at the venue and at the entrance.
