Usually, people in the art industry will have their first concerts or events a year or two after their debut. But it has taken eight years in the comedy industry, for comedian Optional Allan to finally decide to stage his first solo show.
The comedian will have a show dubbed That Mulago Boy on July 22 at National Theatre.
Asked why it had taken him so long, Optional Allan, real name Allan Kibuuka, said it was because of self-doubt.
“A show is not something you wake up and do. You need to take your time and study your audience. It is what I have been doing all these years. Besides that, I had not been ready and did not also believe in myself,” he said.
Kibuuka also added that as a blessing in disguise, the postponement of the show gave him a chance to come up with new content that he will be unleashing on that day.
