iKon Awards launched

Yesterday June 1, 2022, Reach A Hand Uganda in partnership with Sauti Plus Media Hub launched the iKon at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The iKon Initiative is a prestigious program that will recognise creatives in film and Television.

The awards seek to award (recognize and reward formidable implementers including filmmakers and actors), connect (link participants and their interventions/films/show/series to opportunities for resource mobilisation, networking, core organisational development, and publicity) and educate (through one-on-one sessions, webinars, online courses and summits from professionals in the film industry).

With this initiative, Humphrey continues to impact the next generation helping them make informed decisions while using Film and TV as a medium for this exchange, he is also passionate about creatives telling their own stories.

‘Over the next 5 years, I see myself as a major stakeholder in the Film and TV industry because this sector is really close to my heart as it reminds me of early beginnings, and also, I see an incredible opportunity to bridge the gap for youth employability through investing in the creative arts sector,’ he said.

Hosted by Ronnie MacVexx and Fauzia from Ebonies, the launch was graced by media practitioners, film makers, actors and well-wishers who enjoyed entertainment from Micheal Ouma and Joseph Sax.

Details on how you can nominate your film can be found on www.theikon.org website and/or download the nomination form, submitted along with your film/TV show, and drop it off at the National Theatre in Kampala Incredible Media in Ntinda.
