The debate on who is the favourite artiste for the rugby fraternity in Uganda was closed. They gave Wainnie Nwagi all their money on Friday. This was at a dinner organised for the Rugby Sevens at Kabira Country Club to thank them for their success at the last tournament.

When Winnie Nwagi hit the stage, life came to the party. She opened her performance with Musawo, which got everyone, including dignitaries from National Council of Sports on their feet. She danced with every single rugby player at the function.

The Nile Breweries managing director, David Valencia, handed over Shs58m to the Rugby Sevens and Shs10m for the women’s team as appreciation for their latest success.

“The game has been on the forefront of making Uganda proud. Uganda has ably been represented at numerous Sevens circuits across the world. As the number one fan of Uganda rugby, this is what we are exactly about; supporting anybody that makes Uganda proud,” he said.
The Uganda Rugby Union president, Godwin Kayangwe, expressed utmost gratitude towards the commitment, revealing that the boost will enable the union strategically plan for the future.

“As much as the Africa Sevens triumph is still fresh in our minds, the work towards a successful World Cup starts immediately. We are not going there merely as participants but we want to cause a major stir, shake up the status quo and make a name for Uganda,” said Rugby Cranes Coach Micheal Wokorach.
The boys crowned the night with DJ Alisha on the decks as they danced the night away.
