Uganda will this year, for the first time host the Miss Tourism East African beauty Pageant. This was revealed on Friday, May 6, 2022, during the launch of the 10th edition of Miss Tourism Uganda.
The launch took place at Uganda Museum and will have the search conducted across the country to get this year’s Beauty queen who will represent Uganda in different international pageants and also become Uganda’s tourism ambassador.
Susan Kahunde was the reigning Miss Tourism Uganda after being crowned in a grand finale that took place at Kampala Serena Hotel in December last year.
According to Ivan Lugya, the National Coordinator of Miss Tourism Uganda, the search for Miss Tourism Uganda 10th edition is on and will run under the theme, Rethinking tourism.
After this year’s crowning, Lugya said that the winner will go ahead and compete at the East African level where different Tourism queens across different East African countries will take part in the pageant that will be organized by Miss Tourism Uganda and also hosted in Uganda to see the which country the first Miss Tourism East African will come from.
Ever since the Miss Tourism Pageant was launched by the Late Hon Maria Mutagamba, the pageant has grown and of late, it is one of the biggest pageants in Uganda.
