Singer Laika says she used the lockdown to grow her music career and write more songs.
While appearing on the D’Mighty Breakfast show with Brian Mulondo, Laika said that she decided to use the time during the lockdown, when artistes could not perform, to learn so many things that have led to the growth of her music career.
“Lockdown was tough. We were the survivors. When no one was working, I went to the studio, wrote songs, and learned so many things,” she said.
Laika added that she writes most of her songs especially those in English and Kiswahili. However, someone else helps her with the Luganda songs since she is not good at writing those.
She focuses most of her songs on love stories because she believes that love sells a lot, unlike other topics. However, she was quick to say that she hasn’t yet sung about her own experiences and that most of the time she sings about things that usually happen.
“My songs are an imagination of things that other people go through. When I sing about myself, you will know,” Laika said.
The artiste is well-known for songs like Overdose and My type. She will be performing tomorrow at the KFMNite at Knight Riders in Entebbe with other artists like Aroma, African Messiah, Zoe, and Mudra.
