After making music for more than twenty years, artiste Jose Chameleone feels there are some award categories that he shouldn’t be competing in. He feels that if it’s not a legendary category or lifetime achievement award, he’s better off not nominated.
The Leone Island CEO was nominated in several categories in this year’s Zzina awards including Best afrobeat song for his ‘Forever jam, which also received a nod in the song of the year category, Artiste of the year, and Best Fans team. Chameleone wasn’t impressed and he showed his dissatisfaction through a post.
“I wish to bring in my concern as a General in this celebrated music industry. Please, next time substitute my nominations to the artists that work hard to be part of the Zzina Awards. I don’t mean to say I don’t appreciate being part of it. But I am sure so many young artistes need that space. I guess next year you’ll consider something like “Lifetime Achievement where many great artistes like me belong,” he posted.
He however appreciated everyone who has lifted the music spirit by uplifting every talent and congratulated all the nominees.
