Branding is one of the most important aspects of someone’s career and with branding comes things like names. Ugandan artistes will come out with all kinds of names that they perhaps think will help them associate more with their target audiences. We have artistes like Chameleone, Weasel, and Kapa Cat among others and recently, we have been introduced to Kapa Boy.
Surprisingly, Kapa Boy is not related to Kapa Cat but listening and singing along to Kapa Cat’s songs while in High school earned him the name.
“I used to love Kapa Cat’s first songs and used to sing them along at school then students and everyone around me started calling me Kapa Boy, that’s where the name came from.
Born Rodrick Kanaabi, Kapa Boy, is a brand influencer, journalist, songwriter who is seriously pursuing music as a career. Kapa Boy developed his love for music at a very tender age and started doing music officially in 2019 with ‘Talk To Me’ featuring Nigeria’s Jerry Logo.
Kapa Boy’s sound features groovy Afrobeat mixed with Dancehall and a little bit of the trending vibe trap, a new different sound for the world to accept and for the youths to relate to on an unlimited scale.
He has a way of connecting with his listeners through his lyrics and melody and listens to afrobeat, dancehall, reggae, and trap amongst other genres and was inspired by the likes of Xxxtentacion, Wizkid, and Papithbk.
