In the recently concluded presidential address on covid-19, President Museveni gave a green light to the reopening of bars and public gatherings. He directed that they must open two weeks after children have reported to school. With such news, bars are dusting in preparation for reopening. Nexus Lounge is one of the bars preparing to reopen. Located in Najjera, it was the go-to place for most party animals in and around Kampala before the pandemic. The bar that had expanded into other ventures like events introducing Nexus events in the nightlife business and this was all brains of the late proprietor Ivan Kakooza who passed on in October last year.
To keep the legacy going, the management he left that also used to run the bar has promised not to let down the Late Kakooza but continue delivering the best services in nightlife. The bar with its huge space has hosted events and theme nights for the past years and according to management, nothing is going to change. The bar will officially reopen doors to nightlife on January 28, 2022 few days after the day President Museveni said the economy will fully reopen.
Asked whether they were fully closed, management of the bar said that being a bar and restaurant, the bar section has always been closed but the restaurant side has been operating with the workers adhering to presidential directives of social distancing, wearing of masks, sanitising, and closing before curfew time.
Besides the bar, Nexus events is also said to be in preparation to organise events at Nexus and also provide state of the art equipment that includes stage, light, sound, and sound for events since they are fully going to operate starting from the end of this month.
