After almost two years of the entertainment lockdown, concert venues in Uganda will once again be welcoming revelers to enjoy the arts and entertainment.
At Alliance Francaise in Kampala, Kenyan singer, and songwriter, Njoki Karu will be performing live in a concert for the first time in Kampala as nightlife resumes in Uganda.
“We are happy that we are finally going to be out again to enjoy cultural and artistic events,” Simon Jarru, Cultural coordinator Alliance Francaise.
Simon noted that Njoki’s s performance will be an opportunity for arts lovers to discover her voice and Afro Hindi folk style in an intimate concert at Alliance Francaise basement – Bukoto street in Kampala.
He noted that prior to the performance; Njoki will be holding a voice master class for a group of selected Ugandan singers on January 28, 2022, and later hold a performance on January 29, 2022.
A songwriter of preeminent distinction and recognition within the Kenyan music industry, Njoki has gained acclaim over writing songs such as Omba, Holes, and putting her own heart-rending twist on old spiritual songs, Binadamu, as well as Bwana U Sehemu.
Njoki has a unique voice that not only presents her with endless possibilities of expression but also allows for the perfect interweaving of old stories and new thoughts with rhythm and melody.
She is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, a world-renowned music school, with a degree in Music Therapy.
