Yesterday, Pr Aloysious Bugingo and Suzan Makula Nantaba successfully held an introduction ceremony that saw some bigwigs in attendance.
However, their celebrations may be cut short after lawyer Male Mabirizi decided to report a criminal case against the couple.
According to Mabirizi, the statement of offence is contracting marriage by customary law when Bugingo is already married under the marriage act which is contrary to section 50 of the marriage act CAP.251. While Suzan Makula is accused of getting married to a person who is still married contrary to section 42 of the Marriage Act CAP.251.
The Charge sheet also states that on the 7th day of December 2021, at Kawuku, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso district Aloysious Bujjingo contracted marriage under the marriage act with Teddy Naluswa Bujjingo and during the continuance of that marriage contracted a marriage in accordance with customary law with Suzan Makula Nantaba.
