Sheila Gashumba quotes wrong Act in fight with Galaxy FM

In her article “When a journalist becomes a disinformation agent”, senior features editor at Scientific American Ms. Nick Higgins notes that the targeted victims of disinformation are fragile especially when wrong information is shared by journalists.

Few people noticed when “TV Journalist” Sheila Gashumba waged verbal Twitter stints  on Galaxy radio station over what could be breaching minimum broadcasting  standards which are embedded in the Uganda Communications Act 2013

The proverbial social media user reminded Galaxy FM’s social media handlers that they would be soon victims of UCC’s  “Social media misuse act” just like her counterpart Kayz Official alias Isaac Kawalya.

Sadly, Gashumba’s alleged “social media misuse act” has never existed in Uganda and his equal Kayz Official was only recently sent to coolers over libel alias offensive communication.

It is understood that UCC who are recipients of Gashumba’s claim exists under the Uganda Communications Act of 2013 that was established to implement the provisions of The UCC Act 2013 and to regulate the Communications sector, which includes Telecommunications, Broadcasting, radio communication, postal communications, data communication, and infrastructure.

However, Gashumba’s woes can be settled by criminal libel law under the penal code act or UCC can forge away to call out her tormentors for breach of Minimum broadcasting standards.

“What happened to my brother Kayz needs to happen to the Facebook editor of @GalaxyFMUg  so that they stop posting nonsense! I think they forget that there is a social media misuse act from @UCC_Official After they’ll say public figures are bad!! Some of you need to go jail first!!,” she posted.
