Tooro’s Pride Charity organization launched

As the world is still trying to come to terms with the damage that the Covid-19 pandemic has created, communities everywhere have embraced the idea of joining hands and dealing with the issue at hand.

However, before COVID-19, several other problems affected people and still do. Tooro’s Pride Foundation, a charity organization located in Canada has stepped up to deal with issues like domestic violence, poverty alleviation, and assisting Ugandan immigrants to settle in Canada.

This happened last weekend during the launch of Tooro’s Pride Foundation, in Christie Park, Toronto, Canada. The event was hosted by Gloria Gift Nankunda, a singer based in Canada.

According to Doreen Kajumba, the Founder of the foundation, they started it to help people in need especially those who go to Canada. “We started up this organization to help people in need. Many times we get Ugandans coming to Canada suffering silently because they don’t know anyone here. We shall help them settle.” She said.

Among those who attended the event included the Buganda Ku Ntiko Cultural Association’s Mulangira Jjuuko Hassan, Vice-Chairperson, and Brenda Nakato who is the treasurer of the association and the Ugandan Community Treasurer Daphine Marunga Mugenyi on behalf of the Tooro Canadian Association among others.

The event was sealed with musical performances amongst themselves and a mouth-watering barbecue.
