I haven’t received any money – Promoter Balunywa

Ever since the lockdown started last year, Ugandan promoters have been the biggest beneficiaries.

We have been told that every time there is a stimulus fund to be given out to the entertainment industry, they are the ones who benefit and the latest development is that promoter Balunywa has received Shs5b to hold online concerts for artistes, following the President’s advice during one of his addresses.

Asked whether this is true, the promoter laughed off the rumours.

“It’s not true that I have received any money from anyone. I have just partnered with some organisations to help artistes get a platform where they can showcase their content. This is the second time we are doing it after the UG connect last year but this time round, we are aiming at having 54 shows every Saturday,” he said.
