In the spirit of joining the rest of the world to celebrate Mother’s last week, artistes Kent & Flosso of the Voltage Music and Rhizo Pass spent the day with the teenage mothers at their home known as the Remnant Generations, located in Busega, Kampala.
The artistes signed to Voices & Beats records were accompanied by other members of the team, including Ms. Carolyne Gloria Flower, the Label’s Executive Director, and spent the day with the teenage mums, entertaining, and interacting with them, as they listened to their humbling stories.
In her remarks, Ms. Carolyne urged the teenage Mums not to resort to self-sympathy but rather approach their fears with bravery. She further reminded the expecting mums that the babies they are carrying are a gift and blessing from God. So, they need to know that their future is bright, and they can still make it, regardless of their current circumstances.
The artistes shared words of inspiration to the young Mums and donated items such as sanitary products and Maama kits among others to help them through the hard period they are going through.
To crown it all, Voices & Beats Records has committed to supporting this home both in finance and in-kind to restore hope for the teen mothers. Talent will also be identified from the teen mothers and allowed to participate in the various art and music projects of the Label.
The Remnant Generation was founded in 2011 as a Not-for-Profit Organization and has over 20 teenage mums under its care and it caters to those who have faced different circumstances that have left them pregnant, alone, and abandoned.
The home reaches, rescues, and restores survivors of sexual abuse and pregnant teen girls. They believe in girls’ flourishing by providing safe spaces, spiritual nurturing, counseling, access to education, health, justice, and job training.
