As Uganda creative industry struggle to make ends meet amidst the global pandemic, there is a new sight to hope as French Cultural wing Alliance Francaise role out a new programme for May and June 2021.
The cultural programme designed to cater to June and July will see Ugandan artistes showcase their talents in Alliance programs.
Speaking at a Press Conference that was organized at Alliance Francaise in Bukoto Kampala, Simon Jarru the Cultural coordinator at Alliance Francaise noted that the move intends to strengthen artists despite this hard period.
On the programme, a newly curated event dubbed Akatuuti will see Ugandan emerging artistes showcase their talents Every 1st Friday of the Month in the Alliance Francaise basement in Bukoto.
It is understood that the inaugural Akatuuti slated for May will feature, Percussionist Robert Kibalama, Dancers Walter Ruva, and Jamila Nassanga Spoken word artiste Hondi Mushagasha among others.
The programme also indicates that the World music day that will be celebrated in June will be graced by French Rnb Musician Alicia and celebrated Deejay Blutch.
Simon Jarru revealed that the movie Night has also been catered for with Ugandan Movies to be considered alongside French movies as Alliance bids to Promote French Culture in Uganda while appreciating Ugandan Culture.
He however revealed that some of the events on the programme will be digitally held due to covid-19 restrictions and for physical events; few numbers will have to be considered.
