Since the breakout of the deadly flu Covid-19 last year, many things changed and most will certainly never be same again.
From businesses closing to some still under lockdown, Uganda’s tourism sector was equally badly hit, with a fall in the numbers of tourists.
Thus in the bid to revive the tourism sector, Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has this year embarked on a local tourism campaign, dubbed ‘Take on The Pearl with love’.
The strategy was rolled out to Ugandans as per criteria, where a number of winners seized their chances to have a tour of Uganda from as far Fort Portal, to Jinja, Murchison Falls, Kidepo Valley National Park and Ssese Island in Kalangala since Valentine’s Day, women’s day, and most recently Easter days.
Sqoop got invited for the Easter trip, where a family of one winner Raymond Okidi had an opportunity to wind down.
They checked out the Ssese Island Wildlife Park, Zoo, Virgin Island, as well as a Nature Walk to the then John Speke the explorer’s home which two facilities are now reserved as tourism educational information centers at the Island.
The trip lasted 3 days, having been flagged off Good Friday, went on till Easter Monday.
