What inspired you to do music?
Making the decision to do music came naturally. I come from a family of musicians even though they do it at a lower level. So I would say my family inspired me but also I just loved singing.
What’s the story of your music journey and was your family supportive when you choose this path?
I have had a quite challenging journey. I particularly recall the day I walked on foot from home to Natete to meet a producer. I left home thinking the producer would be interested in managing my music. When I reached at his studio he asked me for five hundred thousand shillings (Shs500,000) to work on my song. I was young and never had any coin on me that however never put me down, I continued to hustle until today. Since my family especially my sister got to know that I can sing and wanted to do it professionally, they have been so supportive. My sister has supported me from day one and I am so grateful to her.
How would you describe your music?
I always make sure my Music has an African element in it. I create songs using our day-to-day life challenges that’s why music heals and touches the soul.
Your music is finally being recognized and receiving massive airplay, what do you think has contributed to this??
My strength is the story telling, the choice of my song titles, my lyrical content and the fact that I always study the Market before I release Music.
What is is the message behind ‘My Lover’ your latest song?
The song is inspired by love so the message is love.
Who writes your songs?
I write my Music, and write for my fellow artistes too.
Which artistes would you wish to collaborate with?
Most of my collaborations depend on the vibe and my relationship with the artiste As long as you are talented we can hit the studio.
What is your favorite song among all your releases?
Well, I don’t have a favorite song I love all my songs because they all have different messages.
What has been your greatest challenge in the ug music industry?
Everyone in the Entertainment business is competing for Celebrity space and Most of the time for the wrong reasons. Also dishonesty in the industry and in the media. I also the cost of music production is high.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
If the government respected art and implemented copyright and fair play in the game no one would be complaining.
What’s next for you?
More Music. Ugandans should expect so much more from me
Message to your fans
Get ready to dance because that’s the direction of music I am taking now.
