Music fraternity mourns the legendary Sammy Kasule

Rest In Peace Sammy Kasule

One of Uganda’s best bass guitarists Sammy Kasule 69, has died. Kasule passed away on Tuesday evening in Amsterdam, Netherlands. His death was confirmed by his family and Afrigo Band.

“It is with deep regret to report the death of our bass guitarist Sammy Kasule,” said Afrigo Band in a statement.

According to the full statement by Afrigo Band, Sammy had been on his way to Sweden for further treatment when at his stop over at Amsterdam it was assessed that he couldn’t continue with the journey without treatment.

He is most known for his masterpiece songs which include ‘Ekitoobero’, ‘Mvua Ya Amani’, and ‘Ziwuuna’, among others.

His death has left the music industry in a somber state as some took to social media to eulogise the bass guitar legend.

Musician Bobi Wine posted, “The Ugandan music fraternity has lost yet another legend.

Rest in peace Sammy Kasule, thank you for the legacy you leave behind for the next generation.  Great music, great inspiration,” accompanied by his photo.

“It’s a very sad day in performing arts in Uganda. Sammy Kasule has died. May His Soul Rest in Peace,” Edward Sendi posted.

Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga also took time to eulogise Kaule, he wrote, “Nsaasira nnyo omukyala, abaana n’aboluganda lwa Sammy Kasule olw’okufa kwe. Nsaasira nnyo bonna be yayimbako nabo; n’aba Ziwuuna Band mw’abadde. Mikwano gye, naddala mu kisaawe ky’okuyimba, mbasaasidde nnyo. Sammy Kasule abadde n’ekitone eky’enjawulo. Abadde yenyumiririza nnyo mu Bwakabaka. Tusaba Katonda amuwe ekiwummulo eky’emirembe. CPM.”
