Culture and creative industry to get representative on PSFU

We have seen and heard people in the creative industry frequenting several big offices in the name of being opened up. Some creatives are always in Gulu meeting Gen. Salim Saleh while others are always seeking audience with the President but it looks like they are close to achieving what they have always looked for.

The latest we have is that the culture and creative industry for the first time will have a representative on the Board of The Private Sector Foundation of Uganda- (PSFU). This, according to Hannington Bugingo, the president of The Uganda Comedians Association, will be a big boost in aligning, lobbying and advocating for the sector at national planning and policy level.

“Because the creative industry employs the biggest number of youth, this is a very big thing for the creatives because we have been marginalised and sidelined. So we are going to elect a member we think will represent us through our national cultural forum,” he said.

He, however, warned that the person they are going to choose as their representative will not just show face but will be someone good at policy and strategy making.
