Celebrated Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz has revealed that his Wasafi Records Label will soon open a branch in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
Speaking during the launch of Mbosso’s ‘Definition of Love’ album, Diamond and the WCB management stated that plans were already underway to open the first WCB branch outside Africa.
Mkubwa Fella, one of the WCB managers, stated that his colleague Sallam SK was already in Dubai to finalize the new branch opening. On his part, Diamond explained that the delay in opening the branch was to solidify the local market before advancing to other markets.
Diamond noted that the goal of the Dubai branch would be to tap the region’s talent and act as a convergence point for global talent.
“Pengine watu wanauliza kwa nini tulichelewa kuanza hizi branches. Unajua mazuri lazima yaanze nyumbani…sasa ilikuwa ni aibu kuingia nchi zengine ila huku nyumbani kuna talanta mingi…Sallam ako Dubai kuna mambo anafanya tutatangaza hivi karibuni,” said Diamond.
(Perhaps people are wondering why we delayed to start these branches but you know the good ones have to start at home … it doesn’t make sense to start from other countries when there is a lot of talent at home… Sallam is in Dubai finalizing and soon we will announce the launch.)
The WCB expansion plan has been in the works for a long time, but the management had not disclosed the location of the new branches.
