Artistes mourn President Magufuli as Bongo musicians hit studio to record tribute song

Tanzania’s  President of ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) John Magufuli

Tanzania’s fifth elected president H.E John Pombe Magufuli was announced dead after several days of speculations about his whereabouts and medical condition.

Rumors about Magufuli’s death had been circulating for close to a week but no official communication had been released until Wednesday evening after the Vice President, Samia Hassan Saluhu’s confirmation.

In a statement released by the Vice-president, Magufuli died on Wednesday evening following a cardiac arrest. Magufuli will be remembered for his contribution towards uniting the bongo music industry.

Following his untimely demise, several stars took to their socials to remember the leader.

Diamond Platnumz shared his disbelief following the death with a picture of Magufuli alongside a caption of “Dah! jamani “

Meanwhile, several music stars in the +255 including Diamond Platnumz, Rayvanny, Juma Jux, Ben Pol, Khadija, Christiana Shusho, Mario, Joel Lwaga, Dulla Makabila, among others have hit the studio to record a tribute song.

Diamond Platnumz  shared a series of videos while in-studio alongside several bongo music stars in what is believed to be a recording session paying tribute to Magufuli.

President Magufuli has been very close to the entertainment industry and his support will be dearly missed. The song is expected to be out today.

At his death Magufuli was aged 61 years old. He’s left behind a widow and five children
