Former beauty queen Sylvia Namutebi who was Miss Uganda in 2011 is set to represent Uganda in the forthcoming Mrs. World beauty pageant which was created in 1984 to celebrate married women.
The event will be happening in March 2021 in Sri Lanka and Aly Alibhai’s wife will be up against 50 other contestants from different countries.
Speaking about the nomination, Sylvia said that she was scouted by an international pageant scout who contacted her after reading through her profile.
“I was skeptical to apply at first but my gut told me to try it out. The process was not an easy one. It took me over a month to be verified. I would download forms, fill them in, wait, and get feedback and so on but after all the vetting was done, I received a congratulations message so here I am,” said an excited Namutebi.
Caroline Jurie of Sri Lanka holds the 2020 Mrs. World title and she won this after defeating 51 contestants in a beauty race which was held in Las Vegas, United States of America.
