Before the Ministry of Health (MoH) asked the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to ban ‘Tumbiza Sound’ which is currently the biggest song on the airwaves, it had less than 500k views.
After the letter came out asking for the song to be banned because it is misinforming the public about the coronavirus, people paid more attention to it. The video is about to hit a million views thanks to the buzz that has been surrounding it.
The artiste, Eric Opoka alias EeZzy was then summoned by the Ministry of Health to answer questions about the song. Yesterday, EeZzy met with UCC and MoH officials to discuss the way forward towards this song that is allegedly discouraging people from following the Standard Operation Procedures and calling upon the public to defy Covid-19 SOPs and be reckless amidst the pandemic.
We have learnt that the two parties agreed to do a remix of the song. The song audio and video will be paid for by MoH and all this will be done in two weeks. In the remix, EeZzy will encourage Ugandans to observe Covid-19 guidelines.
