Artistes’ stimulus fund given to wrong people – Ragga Dee

Earlier this week, artistes’ representatives under the Uganda National Forum went to the National Theatre to hold a peaceful demonstration over a stimulus fund supposed to help them during this Covid period.

This after it emerged that some ka money amounting to about Shs1.2b had been sent to Uganda National Cultural Center instead of Uganda National Forum.

“We asked for the Shs47 billion to help artists as Uganda National Forum. This money was meant to go to writers, singers, instrumentalists and all. It was approved by the President but the Finance Ministry had not budgeted for it in their annual budget. However Shs1.2billion was collected and instead of us getting the money, it was sent to UNCC and then distributed to promoters,” said Ragga Dee, the chairman of the Ugandan National Forum.

The veteran artiste further added that it’s the person on the microphone, the people who put their mind in writing songs, and the people who play instruments who have been suffering the most during this lockdown and not promoters so they demand an explanation why the money was sent to the people who were not responsible for asking for it.

UNCC are yet to say a thing!
