Fr Lokodo to summon Sheikh Muzaata over Kenzo remarks

It all started last week. While attending a pre-marriage ceremony of artiste Rehema Namakula, renowned Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata, who was a celebrant at the function, was reported to have made statements perceived to be targeting singer Edrisa Musuuza, alias, Eddy Kenzo. Ms Namakula is a former lover of Kenzo.

In a leaked video from the ceremony, the religious leader is heard congratulating the bride, adding that she had survived ‘love niggas’ that do not get married but only waste girls’ time.
He asked the said ‘love niggas’ to marry their mothers since they are the ones they believe are perfect.
This prompted Kenzo to respond on social media, noting that his mother died a long time back and if she had been around, he would have probably been a better man.

This saga has dominated Uganda’s social media scene this week with the release of more video clips and social media posts. In another video, the religious leader, without mentioning names, criticised a lifestyle that Kenzo said was profiling him. He talked about pierced ears, and the necklaces that he says are gay tendencies.
It is after this video that the singer noted that he wouldn’t be performing in Uganda until he received an apology from the religious leader who later had to retract the statements he made.
For over a week, the two have ruled social media. In a highly anticipated social media broadcast on Tuesday, the artiste was at it again, saying he had cancelled his international tour to instead hold a peaceful demonstration at Kibuli Mosque.

In the elaborate video that was streamed by more than 16,000 people, Kenzo claimed there are people that want him dead before 2021 and are trying to depress him before eventually poisoning him.
“These people are doing all it takes to depress me, put me out of work and then poison me and claim that I took my life.”
The artiste promises to jet into the country on October 22 and head to Kibuli where he will be joined by some people to hold a peaceful demonstration.

Ethics and Integrity Minister Simon Lokodo

Meanwhile, the Minister for Ethics and Integrity, Fr Simon Lokodo, has said he will summon Sheikh Muzaata over the matter.
“We shall summon the Sheikh and reprimand him for being so arrogant with his words,” Fr Lokodo said.
He said Sheikh Muzaata should have acted as a parent and responsible other than lashing out at ‘his son’.
