Kyadondo rugby club has hosted thousands of games and concerts over the years but what stands out in people’s minds is the July 11th bomb blasts tragedy. This is so because many people lost lives while others sustained bad injuries. Even though it was a hard challenge for the hangout to come out of, they managed to and on September 7th they will be celebrating 20 years.
The Hima Cement Heathens team has decided to head the celebrations which will include an all-day carnival, artiste performances from Spice Diana and Fik Famaica, two rugby matches between Wazei Kyadondo Vs. Wazei Legends and The Best of Kyadondo Vs. The Best of Legends. There will also be raffles and giveaways as well as “nyama choma” plus karaoke and music mixes by up to 30 DJS.
Kyadondo was officially opened in 1999 and is home to six competitive rugby teams including Hima cement Heathens which is the oldest member and leading team in Uganda.
Kyadondo also has a social club with a membership of over 500 people from a wide spectrum, and an addition of tag, Toto (under 14s), Wazee (over 35s) clubs that go about 5 years back.
