Sandra Nguna wins Miss Tourism Busoga

Crowned Busoga Tourism queen Sandra Nguna (M)Kyeru Phiona 1st runner up and Rose Sandra Nabagala 2nd runner.

Sandra Nguna has won the Miss tourism Busoga to represent the region at the national level after beating 11 contestants to the crown. Kyeru Phiona from Kigulu chiefdom emerged the first runners up and Rose Sandra Nabagala from Butembe Chiefdom was the second runner. The pageant that happened last week took place at Kagulu Rock, Kagulu subcountu Buyende district.

Nguna who comes from Luuka Chiefdom in Luuka district in Eastern Uganda was so excited to win the crown and she was so grateful to God for the victory. “I am grateful to God that I have managed to get this victory. It was always my dream that I would become a Busoga beauty queen and seeing this day come to pass is my delight,” Nguna said cheerfully.

“I still feel like am dreaming, I am really so grateful for the opportunity I have been given. It’s not just about carrying the crown on my head but making sure our tourism potentials in Busoga are all boosted. It has also come with some social change but can handle it all,” she added.

The 3rd edition of the Busoga Miss Tourism pageant was organised by the Ministry of Tourism Busoga Kingdom headed by Owek Hellena Olga Namutamba. In May this year, the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga pledged to support the activities of the Busoga Tourism Queens in growing the pageantry and tourism in the region.

At the event, Kadaga stressed the great importance of the tourism queens in Busoga in the development of Busoga and inspiring other youths. “I encourage the tourism queens to support the programs of the kingdom, startup tourism clubs especially in schools in our chiefdoms and also participate greatly in planting trees,” she said.
