Over 200 people with Special abilities to perform at Unseen Dreams

The 5th Edition of the annual inclusive Dance arts Festival for people with Special abilities dubbed Unseen dreams will be held on the 10th Saturday at National Theatre in Kampala.

According to Mr. Kenneth Tereka Desire the vision bearer of the project, this year’s performance will see at least 200 people with special abilities who will be showcasing various artistic abilities that will include dance, Music, poetry among many.

The event that will be held under the theme “Inclusion is a right not a privilege” will be presenting   a special of a Kind Fashion show that is curated by Dancer and artiste Edna Namanya who believes that fashion can offer a great opportunity for people with special abilities not only to communicate but also to create employment opportunities.

Ms Doreen Namawejje the team leader for women and Children with albinism said that the event helps people with disabilities to discover positive talents unlike the public perceptions where some people believe that a person with albinism can only find a role in play representing a ghost or a demon.

“This is an opportunity to positively beat stereotypes and bring an end to negative perceptions” Ms Doreen Mr. Tereka noted that the event will be open to the public on an open ticket and the proceeds will go to the Unseen dreams initiative an organization that helps people with disabilities to nature their talents.

The Participating teams include Kampala School for the Physically handicapped Mengo, Salaama School of the Blind Mukono, Civic Centre for the children with Visual impairment, for women and Children with albinism Kireka School for Children with special needs, Ntinda School for the deaf,, Deaf Dancers, Uganda Society for the Deaf, Entebbe welfare for Children with special needs, Kings way primary School, Teletubies primary School, and Gulu based Wetwero Dance Company.
