Last Friday may have ended on a sad note for many Ugandans, following the loss of the Uganda Cranes, but we cannot hide away from the preparations and hype that preceded the game. It was a do or die match, the reason telecom company, Airtel, decided to show a screening of the match at their offices in Bugolobi.
Among the people invited for the evening match were media personalities and other corporates.
Despite the eagerness, and optimism that engulfed the room, technology was not on the viewers’ side as the signals first failed. All efforts to get them working failed as technicians were seen pacing up and down trying to find a solution.
At this time, the invited guests sipped on free drinks and bites while those who could not stand the pressure just resorted to using their phones. It was in the 40th minute that the signals were finally restored. Meanwhile during the several breaks, the viewers were engaged in a quiz, which was done in groups. Winners were promised different gifts.
At the end of the disappointing match, people started leaving and those who stayed danced to great jams until the wee hours of the morning.
