If you have noticed, gospel artistes are very well behaved especially when it comes to keeping time and staying away from scandals. They also deliver the most inspiring songs in the industry but that may not have happened if it wasn’t for “Power FM presents”, an initiative started in 2011 in a bid to mentor, train, equip and profile talented and upcoming Gospel Musicians.
They equip the artiste with tools to profile them and enable them to stand on their own in the industry. They are taken through a programme and then unplugged to the audience. A few days ago, Awesome and Samie Smilz were on the spot.
Awesome is a recording afro-soul/RnB artiste, a member of Worship Harvest Church Naalya where she ministers in the worship arts, while Samie Smilz is a recording afro-beat/RnB artiste, a member of Watoto Church Ntinda.
These two have recorded songs like ‘Hallelujah’, ‘Mwijje Mwena’, ‘It’s Over’, ‘I belong’, ‘Me love’, ‘Your love’, ‘Father’s Love’, ‘Oyo Afayoo’ and more. And the audience got a chance to see them perform them, live at Watoto church last Saturday evening.
But before that, they were first taken through a series of activities like vocal trainings, band Practices and stage presence among others to prepare them since July the 10th. They were also fully mentored in a number of things e.g. goal setting/Career mapping, vision, purpose, imaging, basic marketing-branding, song writing, stage performance and all the rest of the units.
This was done to equip and then profile Awesome & Samie Smilz and present them as world class artists in a concert as mentored/trained artists, worship leaders, song writers, creative worship and worthwhile gospel musicians.
Other renowned gospel musicians who went through the Power FM presents include Martin Sseku, Mac Elvis, Coopy Bly, Jackie Senyonjo, Brian Lubega, Robinsan, Canaan Gents, D’reign and Zabuli, Andrea Presson & Johnmarie as well as Levixone. Some of these musicians also performed during the unveiling night.
