After a two-year break, Mirinda Miss Teen, a pageant that crowns girls aged 13 to 19 years returned two weeks ago. Kick starting the competition is the school’s search which started last Saturday at Rubaga Girls’ school in Kampala.
Esther Namitala emerged the overall winner from the school after beating 8 other contestants. Flower Ankunda was the first runner up and Dicta Nakisekka 2nd runners up. Namitala’s brilliance when it came to answering questions from the judges put her ahead of other contestants. She was confident, articulate and knew what she wanted. There was no better way for her to win the judges’ favour.
Besides the Miss Teen crown, the girls in other categories also vied for the crown of Miss Ambitious where the best girl should be able to know her career goals and how she can achieve them. Leiticia Nabaka became the judges favourite when she presented money-making projects of producing fresh pineapple and Mango Juice.
The other category of Miss Fashionistas required the girls to creatively put together an interesting piece of fashion art; using the props she was given and Angel Nakandi came up with a nice dress to enable her to win the crown for the school’s Miss Fashionista.
The crowning couldn’t go without a music performance that came from singers Vinka who performed songs like Love Doctor, Omukwano Gwo Mapozi and Chips Na Ketchup among others.
