Police in Tororo are hunting for a pastor over the death of his wife that occurred on Tuesday night.
The Pastor (names withheld) runs a church in Molo sub-county Tororo District. He is alleged to have gone into hiding on Wednesday after discovering that his wife only identified as Janet had died as a result of suspected electrocution.
The District Police commander Rogers Chebene said Janet’s body was found in their house in Mogodes in Molo Sub-county.
Mr Chebene revealed that the suspect was a resident of Bison ‘’B’’ in Western division of Tororo Municipality before he opened a church in Magodes in Molo Sub County.
As police retrieved the body from the house, they discovered that there were illegal power connections which they suspect could have been the cause of electrocution.
Mr Chebene said police got information about the incident after a tip from the pastor’s relatives who said he called them claiming Janet was in poor health conditions without providing specifics.
Mr Chebene also revealed that whereas the postmortem report indicates that the cause of death was as result of electrocution, the police have opened a general inquiry file under CRB 361/2019 to carry out further investigations after which they will be guided by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DDP)’s office on what charges to prefer against the pastor.
